AURORA | Firefighters quickly put out an early morning house fire Thursday that caused moderate damage to a garage and roof and displaced five residents, according to Aurora Fire Rescue officials.

Rescuers were dispatched about 4:45 a.m. to a house in the 1700 block of North Ironton Street after reports of a fire there.

The first unit on scene reported smoke coming from the attic, checking for people inside the house.

Firefighters located flames in both the garage and attic, but brought the blaze under control within about 10 minutes, officials said.

A total of 15 fire and medical units responded.

Searches of the home found no occupants inside, and no injuries were reported.

The fire caused moderate damage to the garage and roof.

Five residents were displaced, and the American Red Cross was called to assist the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
