AURORA | An unidentified man was killed Friday afternoon during a fatal crash in east Aurora.

Police said the man was driving his Honda Civic east on East Jewell Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. when the crash occurred at Old Tom Morris Road, near Murphy Creek Golf Course.

He “turned left in front of a Nissan Altima that was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed,” Aurora police spokesperson Sydney Edwards said in a statement. “The two collided.”

The man driving the Honda was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from injuries sustained during the crash, police said.

“The driver of the Nissan, an adult female, stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation,” Edwards said.

Police did not say who was at fault in the crash.

The identity of the man will be released by coroner officials.

The death marked the first fatal traffic crash for 2025.
