AURORA | Hoping to hear from witnesses, police have boosted the reward for information in a 2024 fatal shooting outside an Aurora convenience store on East Colfax Avenue.

Aurora Police Department and Metro Denver Crime Stoppers announced Friday that the reward for information leading to an arrest in the killing of Preston Alexander Guillory has been raised to $4,000 for the next six months.

Guillory, 27, was shot multiple times at about 3:30 a.m. June 21, 2024, while he was outside a convenience store in the 12000 block of East Colfax Avenue, according to police.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting found Guillory with apparent gunshot wounds, police said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Investigators believe there were several bystanders in the area at the time of the shooting who have not yet spoken with police,” Aurora police Lt. Sean Mitchell of the department’s violent crimes section said in a statement. “We are urging anyone with information to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help us hold the person responsible accountable, bring justice for Preston and provide his family with the answers and closure they deserve.”

Police first asked for the public’s help in January, when Crime Stoppers offered up to $2,000 for tips in the case. Tips can now net $4,000 rewards.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for the reward.
