AURORA | A man was killed late Saturday after being struck by a sport utility vehicle while crossing an intersection on East Colfax Avenue, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a auto-pedestrian crash at East Colfax Avenue and Peoria Street at about 11 p.m., police said in a statement.
A 43-year-old man was found at the scene and taken to a hospital, where he later died.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man was walking west through the intersection, outside a crosswalk and against the traffic signal, police said.
A white Ford SUV traveling south on Peoria Street with a green light struck the pedestrian.
The driver remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash, police said.
