IDAHO SPRINGS | The highway to the top of Mount Evans is opening for the season.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says Colorado 5 will open at noon Friday and remain open through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting.
The highway is billed as America’s highest paved road, at more than 14,000 feet.
Transportation officials are warning drivers and cyclists that the road has been damaged in two places near Summit Lake.
