The Cherry Creek schools district board of education at it’s Oct. 5, 2026 meeting. SENTINEL SCREEN GRAB

Selecting the next superintendent is among the most important decisions the Board of Education will make. We are committed to a comprehensive, transparent, and inclusive process that reflects the values of our community and results in a leader who will build on Cherry Creek’s tradition of excellence and help prepare our students for the future.

From the outset, the Board committed to conducting a national search to ensure we attract the strongest possible pool of candidates and identify the leader best positioned to serve the students, staff, and families of Cherry Creek Schools.

Our goal is to conduct interviews in December and present a finalist to the community in January.

We believe this approach will encourage highly qualified candidates to participate in the process while protecting their ability to serve effectively in their current roles. Expanding the applicant pool gives the Board the greatest opportunity to identify an exceptional leader for our district.

Throughout this process, which began on Aug. 3, the Board has prioritized transparency, accountability, and community engagement. More than 1,600 stakeholders have already participated through surveys and focus groups, including one dedicated session with the Cherry Creek Education Association.

This represents the most extensive community engagement effort ever conducted as part of a CCSD superintendent search, ensuring that the perspectives of students, families, staff, and community members help shape the qualities and priorities sought in our next superintendent. This engagement directly shapes the evaluation criteria and questions to be used with any candidates throughout the process.

The consultant conducting the search, McPherson & Jacobson, presented an update to the Board at Monday night’s meeting. They are finalizing the stakeholder feedback reports, and the District will post those reports on the CCSD Superintendent Search webpage this Friday. Additional information regarding actions the Board has taken to strengthen oversight, rebuild trust, and improve governance is available on the District Accountability Webpage.

The Board is deeply grateful to the many students, families, staff members, and community partners who have shared their perspectives throughout this process. Your participation has helped ensure this search reflects the priorities, aspirations, and values of the Cherry Creek community, and we appreciate the time and thoughtfulness that so many have contributed.

The Board’s goal is not simply to select the next superintendent, but to do so in a manner that earns the confidence of our community.
