DENVER | United Airlines will consolidate its Flight Training Center in Denver and restore its 1950s-era facility there.

KMGH-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1LC5jvP ) that United announced Wednesday that it chose Denver over Chicago and Houston for its training operations.

In a statement, the airline said renovating the Denver facility would be more cost-effective and allow the training center to be up and running as much as two years earlier than planned.

United hopes to have the pilot training center fully operational by the end of 2017.

All operations at the Houston training center will be moved to Denver.
