AURORA | With a full round of regular season play complete, Centennial League girls basketball team were distributed into the bracket of the Centennial League Challenge tournament, which will decide the league champion.

Arapahoe won all seven contests to claim the top seed, while Aurora area programs fill in the majority of the middle of the eight-team tournament, which is scheduled to begin Friday at various sites. The Warriors will play host to No. 8 Cherry Creek (1-6 in league play) at 5:30 p.m.

Cherokee Trail (which went 6-1 in league play) is the No. 2 seed, but will be unable to play on its home floor as the school is hosting a boys wrestling regional tournament Friday and Saturday. The Cougars will go against No. 7 Smoky Hill (which they defeated 66-55 in the first meeting Jan. 28 and which went 1-6 in league contests) at 5:30 p.m. on a neutral site at Overland.

Third-seeded Grandview — last season’s league champion — went 5-2 in league play and is set to play host to No. 6 Mullen (which was 2-5 in league) at 5:30 p.m. in a rematch of a 44-35 Wolves’ victory on the same floor Jan. 28.

After a 4-3 league mark, Eaglecrest is the No. 4 seed and will be at home at 5 p.m. against fifth-seeded Overland (which it defeated 59-41 Jan. 30 and which went 2-5 in league play).

Championship and consolation semifinals take place Feb. 19 at higher seeds, followed by placing games Feb. 21, which will all take place at Overland.
