The Arapahoe County coroner’s office today identified a man killed Sunday night as James Jackson, 27.

According to the coroner, Jackson died of severe internal injuries caused by a gunshot wound.

Police said James was rushed to an area hospital around 10:35 p.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound and later died of his injuries.

Police said they are getting conflicting reports about where the shooting happened, but investigators believe it may have occurred near East 2nd Avenue and Peoria Street.

Aurora police Officer Frank Fania, a spokesman for the department, said police do not have any further information to release on the shooting.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the shooter, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Detective Warren Miller at 303-739-6117. Callers can remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
