AURORA | The 0-3 start for the Regis Jesuit football team is far in the rearview mirror, as the Raiders continued their recent roll with a lopsided victory over Fountain-Fort Carson Friday night at Lou Kellogg Stadium.

Coach Danny Filleman’s Regis Jesuit team got three touchdown passes from freshman quarterback Luke Rubley — two on long strikes to senior JoJo Hernandez — plus two touchdowns from senior Joe Pron in a 45-7 victory that extended its win streak to four games.

Defense played a huge roll in the victory for the Raiders (4-3, 2-0 in Class 5A Southern League), as sophomore Will Anzures had an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown and freshman Colt Jones had two interceptions that set up scores as well. Sophomore Cade Filleman threw in a special teams touchdown for Regis Jesuit when he scooped up a fumbled snap on a punt and took it to the end zone.

Junior Jack Manthey knocked through a 26-yard field goal on the final play of the first half after the second of Jones’ interceptions to make it 31-0 at the break.

Filleman’s return touchdown and a 40-yard connection between Rubley and Hernandez (the second after a 50-yard strike in the first quartera) invoked the running clock mercy rule (40-point margin) early in the final quarter.

Fountain-Fort Carson (4-3, 0-2) averaged nearly 30 points per game in the first six weeks, but was held off the scoreboard until a short touchdown run inside the final five minutes.

Regis Jesuit plays host to Douglas County (4-3, 1-1) at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18
