AURORA | Kyle Goodwin’s final season of prep diving continues to get better.

The three-time Class 5A state diving champion continues to find the form that makes him a favorite to become Colorado’s first four-time boys board champ.

Coming off an 8.25-point victory at the annual Dick Rush Coaches Invitational March 21, Goodwin set 6-dive pool and team records with his performance in the Raiders’ 139-47 dual meet victory over another visiting Aurora school, Cherokee Trail, on Thursday.

With a degree of difficulty listed at 14.4, the University of Missouri signee racked up a whopping 362.10 points to shatter his own Regis Jesuit pool record of 336.95 set in his sophomore season, while it also established a new school record. Sean Moore had the previous mark, a 347.40 during his senior season of 2007, a year before he went to Ohio State and won the NCAA platform championship as a freshman.

Goodwin’s performance was part of a showing that saw coach Nick Frasersmith’s Raiders finish alone or tied for first in all 12 events.

Sophomore Coleton Allen won the 200 yard freestyle alone and shared the 100 yard freestyle top spot with Cherokee Trail senior Eric Daugherty, who touched the ball in the same time of 51.14 seconds.

Seniors Quinlan Stuart (200 individual medley), Chris Morales (100 butterfly) and Ted Koerner (100 breaststroke), junior Simon Barshay (50 freestyle) and freshmen Elijah Warren (100 backstroke) and Elliot Steinberg (500 freestyle) also won events for Regis Jesuit, which finished first and second in all three relay events as well.

Daugherty had a strong day for Cherokee Trail with his performance in the 100 freestyle and a second-place result in the 100 backstroke, while senior Cillian Spierin finished second in the 100 breaststroke and Eric Lammon and Tristan Nation finished 2-3 on the diving board behind Goodwin.

Note: It was a great day for Regis Jesuit swimming, as former Raiders star Clark Smith won the NCAA championship in the 500 yard freestyle at the men’s Division I championship meet in Iowa City, Iowa.
