DENVER | Officers shot and killed a woman who was holding a large, hunting-style knife at an intersection near Coors Field in Downtown Denver at about noon Sunday, police said.

Officers used a Taser on the woman twice but she began advancing toward them as they tried to back up from her, Denver police Chief Ron Thomas said a press conference near the scene. Three officers fired at her, he said.

The shooting will be investigated and the results will be sent to prosecutors to decide if the shooting was lawful, he said.

“My belief is that the officers perceived a significant threat and responded to that threat,” Thomas said.

The woman’s age and name were not immediately known.

  2. Is she native or Latino? It would not surprise me. When I first read this headline, I thought “I’ll bet she was indigenous.” They would never EVER do this to a white woman. There is a video out there of a white woman waving a machete around in a public park, who THREW the machete at police officers. The hit her with bean bags and were able to subdue her non-lethally. Racists HATE non-white woman and police departments across this country are FULL of racists!
