MONDAY, MAY 6: The Aurora Central baseball team rode two six-run innings to a 20-6 road win at Abraham Lincoln, Kalai Bentosino earned the win on the mound and drove in three runs, while Alberto Avila knocked in four runs. …The Gateway baseball team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 17-6 road win at SkyView Academy. The Olys pounded out 21 hits, as Samuel Alvarez, Yanndy Aguayo, Anthony Rubio, Heber Almeida and Oswaldo Rodriguez had three apiece and Colt Wentzel drove in four runs.

SATURDAY, MAY 4: Yanndy Aguayo struck out nine over seven innings as the Gateway baseball team doubled up Overland 4-2. Christopher Delatorre drove in two runs for the Olys, while Orlando Delgado Hurtado had the Trailblazers’ two RBI. …Despite a goal from Kiana Sparrow, the Cherokee Trail girls soccer team fell to Castle View 3-1 to conclude the regular season. …The Regis Jesuit boys swim team finished in fifth place when the Continental “A” League Championship meet concluded at Heritage High School. …The Grandview girls track team edged Cherokee Trail by three points for second place at the Cherry Creek Invitational at Stutler Bowl. Gabriella Cunningham swept the hurdles events and set a meet, program and Stutler Bowl record with a time of 41.96 seconds in the 300 hurdles. Andrea Davis (high jump) and Brenna Kelly (shot put) also won events for the Wolves, who took the 4×100 meter relay. Kaeli Powe took the 200 meters for Cherokee Trail, while Maddie Kilmer claimed the triple jump for Rangeview. …The Cherokee Trail boys track team finished third at the Cherry Creek Invitational behind titles from Brady Smith (1,600 meters), Taylor Waters (pole vault), Cayden Sweets (long jump) and Braylen Thomas (high jump). Fifth-place Overland had titles in the 100 meters (Wondame Davis Jr.) and discus (Jarrius Ward), while Grandview took the 4×800 meter relay. …The Regis Jesuit boys track team placed fifth at the Continental “A” League Championships at EchoPark Stadium. Charlie Dutmer won the 300 meter hurdles and teamed with Alexander Sayatovic, Brady Gerken and Owen Walker to claim the league title in the 4×400 meter relay. The Regis Jesuit girls placed 10th. …Aubrey Benton scored eight goals, while Kyla Bieker had five goals and five assists as the Cherokee Trail girls lacrosse team closed the regular season with a 21-10 win over Denver South. …Despite two goals apiece from Emilia Calamari and Madisyn Jokerst, the Regis Jesuit girls lacrosse team fell to Valor Christian 12-8.

FRIDAY, MAY 3: Carter Wilcox struck out 10 hitters in five innings and allowed one hit as the Cherokee Trail baseball team opened the Centennial League challenge with a 6-0 win over Mullen. Akoi Burton had three hits and joined Logan Reid with two RBI apiece. …Cosme Vera went the distance and struck out eight for the Eaglecrest baseball team in a 9-4 win at Arapahoe in the Centennial League Challenge first round. Noah Brown knocked in three runs and Braden Elliott two for the Raptors. …Brock Johnston had four hits and four stolen bases and Chase Chapman chased in three runs as the Grandview baseball team topped Smoky Hill 10-2 to begin the Centennial League Challenge. …Despite a strong pitching effort from the combination of Brian Herrera and Connor Angelini, the Vista PEAK Prep baseball team lost a 10-inning marathon to Denver North, which prevailed 4-2. …Jeralyn Navarro and Ixtel Soto Gonzalez had goals, but the Hinkley girls soccer team fell to Regis Groff 5-2. …The Grandview boys lacrosse team earned a 15-8 win over Mountain Range. …The Regis Jesuit boys lacrosse team capped the regular season with a 10-6 loss at Cherry Creek. …The Regis Jesuit girls lacrosse team lost to Colorado Academy 15-7 in a rematch of last season’s Class 5A state championship game.

THURSDAY, MAY 2: The Regis Jesuit baseball team earned an 11-1 road win at Holy Family behind a strong start from Matteo Momo, while Brody Chyr had three hits and Andrew Bell and Hudson Alpert drove in two runs apiece. …Anthony Rubio allowed just two hits and struck out eight as the Gateway baseball team blanked Thornton 7-0. Angel Ferrusquia had three hits and two RBI, while Heber Almeida also knocked in two runs and Rubio helped himself with a 2-for-4 performance. …The Aurora Central girls soccer team played Alameda to a 1-1 tie on the road. …The Gateway girls soccer team fell to undefeated Adams City 2-0 at the Aurora Sports Park. …The Cherokee Trail boys lacrosse team dropped a 12-7 contest to Cherry Creek. …The Rangeview boys lacrosse team celebrates its seniors before a 19-7 home loss to Thompson Valley. …The Gateway girls golf team claimed the Colorado League Major tournament at Legacy Ridge G.C. with Maddie Dossey taking medalist honors. Aurora Central’s Alexus Lopez finished third.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1: A 12-strikeout effort from Hudson Alpert over six innings helped the Regis Jesuit baseball team top Mountain Vista 3-1. Chase Massey and Christian Lopez drove in runs for the Raiders and Andrew Bell had three hits. …Sebastian Leyva drove in three runs and Jorge De Los Santos went 3-for-3 for the Aurora Central baseball team in a 7-6 win over Gateway. …Yeh Moo and America Rosales Razo scored for the Hinkley girls soccer team and Tania Ramirez Cardenas made a handful of saves in a 2-0 win over Lincoln. …Ben Muntean had four goals to lead 13 players with a goal, while Ryan Olsen (four saves) and Jackson Large (one) combined for a shutout as the Regis Jesuit boys lacrosse team topped ThunderRidge 21-0. …A fast start led the Regis Jesuit girls lacrosse team to a 11-9 home victory over Cherry Creek as Phoebe Rogala tallied four goals, while Madisyn Jokerst added two goals and two assists. …Kyla Bieker had seven goals, while Aubrey Benton and Lorelei Gearity struck for six apiece for the Cherokee Trail girls lacrosse team in a 23-9 victory over Mullen. …Caroline Ryan of Grandview carded a plus-5 77 to tie for medalist honors at the Centennial League tournament at Aurora Hills G.C. The Wolves took third with a five-stroke margin over Cherokee Trail, which had Haylee Clark tie for ninth with an 84.

TUESDAY, APRIL 30: Tavish Dey singled in the winning run to give the Eaglecrest baseball team 3-2 walk-off win over Mullen. Landen Holmes got the win in relief and had an RBI, as did Brayden Stufft for the Raptors. … Kyle Cacciavillani drove in four runs to back Ethan Wachsmann as the Grandview baseball team topped Smoky Hill 15-1. …Abel Salinas struck out 11 batters in six innings and Connor Angelini saved a 5-4 win for the Vista PEAK Prep baseball team over Northfield. Domenic Montoya drove in two runs for the Bison. …Jorge De Los Santos drove in three runs and Toby Sanchez had three hits as the Aurora Central baseball team topped Adams City 12-1. Alberto Avila scattered four hits over five innings to earn the win. …The Cherokee Trail baseball team dropped a 5-1 contest at Cherry Creek in a matchup of Centenial League leaders. Akoi Burton drove in the Cougars’ run, while Landon Olds had two hits and Logan Reid tossed six innings. …Angely Rodelo Acevedo scored on an assist from Kee Awi and Carla Silva stopped six shots as the Gateway girls soccer team shut out Skyview 1-0. …Kiana Sparrow scored a goal in each half for the Cherokee Trail girls soccer team in a 2-2 tie with Rock Canyon. …The Cherokee Trail boys track team raacked up 128.5 points to cruise to the team title of the rescheduled Stutler Twilight meet. Nick Hoffsetz, Jayden Hughes, Kahari Wilbon and Peyton Sommers had the meet highlight for the Cougars with a state-record time of 1 minute, 25.16 seconds, in the 4×200 meter relay. That topped Valor Christian’s 1:25.46 from 2013. The Cougars also won the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, while Wilbon took the 200 meters, Solomon Griffin won the 110 meter hurdles and Taylor Waters grabbed the pole vault crown. The Grandview girls finished second behind Niwot with help from wins by its 4×200 relay and Andrea Davis in the high jump. Cherokee Trail’s Kaeli Powe had a state-best triple jump of 41 feet, 1 inches, and also took the long jump, while the Cougars’ 800 meter sprint medley relay turned in the state’s top time of 1:40.99. …Rocco Biviano had a hat trick, while Jamie Rosenzweig dished out four assists and Jackson Large made 13 saves as the Regis Jesuit boys lacrosse team topped Castle View 12-4. …The Hinkley boys volleyball team honored coach Paul Reyes for 25 years in the sport and its huge group of seniors were recognized before a 25-11, 25-8, 27-25 win over Denver West. Saul Garcia racked up 11 kills, while Juan Gutierrez had six blocks and Ammon Fifita 14 assists. …The Vista PEAK Prep boys volleyball team capped the regular season with a 25-10, 25-9, 25-11 win over Lincoln that was keyed by 17 kills from Tristan Rowley, while Kaiyan Ivey registered 33 assists. …The Cherokee Trail boys volleyball team swept past Regis Jesuit 25-21, 25-23, 26-24 to close the regular season. …Alex Garcia had seven kills and Ethan Carroll had six as the Grandview boys volleyball team defeated Rock Canyon 25-20, 25-12, 25-23. …The Rangeview boys volleyball team got nine kills from Yahir Moreno plus eight from Nicholas Tapparo, who also had five aces in a 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 win over Thomas Jefferson. …Despite 20 kills and six aces from Vincent Johnson and Joseph Thomas’ 12 kills, the Gateway boys volleyball team fell to Denver East, which prevailed 25-14, 25-20, 25-27, 23-25, 15-10 …Jackson Shaw had 19 kills for the Eaglecrest boys volleyball team and Dillan Ancheta notched 40 assists, but Mountain Vista topped the Raptors 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 15-11 …Sophia Capua shot a plus-8 81 to tie for second place and lead the Vista PEAK Prep girls golf team to third at the City League tournament played at Aurora Hills G.C. …The Regis Jesuit girls golf team finished fourth at the Continental League tournament at Meadow Hills G.C. as Audrey Whitmore led the way with a plus-5 76 that put her third individually.
