The ABC-TV show “Extreme Weight Loss” held its annual open casting call for cast members at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the Anschutz Medical Campus on Valentine’s Day. The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center is home to the 90-day boot camp which begins each cast members’ year-long transformational weight loss journey. Being selected for the TV show is a long-shot, but while they were at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center the hopefuls learned about weight loss programs where they can learn the same transformation skills that the “Extreme Weight Loss” cast members do, including the State of Slim and Extreme Weight Loss Destination Boot Camp.
150 hopefuls pre-registered for the casting call and the first in line was Jeri Norkus from Aurora. She arrived at 5:30 am. One mother and her daughter drove overnight from Albuquerque. And, lovebirds Eric and Denice Louder came in from Nebraska for the casting call. The Louders are the parents of three boys and would like to lose a combined 280 pounds. This was their 21st Valentine’s Day.
23-year-old Kala Henry, is a social worker in Casper, Wyoming and drove down with her mother. She has more than 200 pounds to lose and got some casting call pointers from former cast member Bruce Pitcher who lost 201 pounds on the show last season. Henry shared her goals with the fan favorite.
“This is about my life, not about being a star and being on TV,” she said. “This is about losing the weight and being healthy and happy so I can do things like travel overseas and not hold back in social situations.”

these individuals (on show) would benefit from detox. Losing weight is more than diet and exercise. We crave what’s in our blood–get that clean and cravings go away. Done deep down enough, so will emotional issues.
