Rodriguez was limited to 44 games in 2013 following hip surgery, then was suspended for all of this season for violations of baseball’s drug agreement and labor contract.
Girardi spoke to the third baseman about potentially playing some first base on days Mark Teixeira is given off. Girardi says “we’re going to have to see where he’s at in spring training. But he’s working and trying to get prepared.”
Girardi was at Yankee Stadium for the team’s United Service Organizations event to pack goods for U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.
