AURORA | The speculation of what sport Austin Conway would play collegiately ended awhile ago and the mystery surrounding what school he would play basketball at was solved Tuesday.

Shortly after friend Jake Holtzmann of Chaparral announced his verbal commitment to the University of Denver, Conway revealed his decision. The athletic Overland senior-to-be point guard — also the starting quarterback on the school’s football team — announced his verbal commitment to the University of Wyoming.

Conway detailed his decision over Twitter with the message: “Long process but made my decision I’m blessed excited and thankful to call myself a cowboy.”

The 5-foot-9 Conway averaged 10.5 points and 4.2 assists per game during the 2013-14 season for the Trailblazers, who advanced to the semifinals of the Class 5A boys state basketball tournament. Conway — a first-teamer on the Aurora Sentinel All-City Boys Basketball Team — was considered the top prospect in Colorado’s Class of 2015 according to several recruiting publications.

Conway also reportedly had a standing offers from Indiana — which has also offered teammate De’Ron Davis — Rice and Nebraska.

The Wyoming roster currently has three other Colorado players in former Chaparral standout Josh Adams, ex-Boulder star Riley Grabau and Widefield grad Alan Herndon.
