AURORA | Aurora police have arrested three people on multiple charges after a carjacking led to a chaotic scene in a south Aurora parking lot Saturday evening.
Investigators said a person stole a silver truck while holding at least once occupant at gunpoint near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Dallas Street shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. Officers found the truck less than two hours later in a Wal-Mart parking lot on East Hampden Avenue in the opposite corner of the city.
The driver of the stolen truck collided with multiple vehicles in the parking area, police said. Officers then intentionally drove a police cruiser into the stolen truck in an effort to immobilize it.
A foot chase then ensued, ending with officers deploying and striking one person with the electronic barbs of a stun gun.
Police eventually arrested 24-year-old Odifu Odifu, 32-year-old Amber Quintana and 18-year-old Kwami Austin in connection with the incident. All three were arrested on outstanding warrants, and at least one gun was recovered from the trio.
Police are still determining what charges will be levied against the three suspects, according to a department spokesman.
