AURORA | The Grandview girls basketball team put the lessons it learned in its previous game to use Wednesday in a comfortable 64-48 Centennial League win at Cherokee Trail.
Bouncing back from a 21-point loss to defending Class 5A state champion Regis Jesuit on their home floor, the Wolves — ranked No. 4 in the most recent Associated Press 5A poll — led from start to finish to snap the Cougars’ three-game winning streak.
Senior Natalie Halbleib and freshman Michaela Onyenwere scored 19 points apiece and senior Katie Cunnigham added 10 for Grandview, which improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial League.
Senior Hannah Sparks scored 14 points in the second half and 16 for the game and senior Fatima Davis chipped in 12 for Cherokee Trail, which dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in league play.
