CENTENNIAL | Republican gubernatorial candidates criticized Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper for refusing to set an execution date for convicted mass murderer Nathan Dunlap and took turns condemning new gun restrictions he signed into law.

The criticism from Republicans at a forum Wednesday night highlight points of attack that they plan to use during the next year as they try to defeat Hickenlooper.

The Republican candidates are former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, Secretary of State Scott Gessler, state Sen. Greg Brophy, and former state Sen. Mike Kopp. They’ll face off in a June primary to decide the GOP candidate for November 2014.

Tancredo says the Republican candidates should pledge to not attack each other during the primary campaign. His fellow candidates say they will be civil, but that voters deserve to know their differences.

  1. Candidates, please remember that anything you use against each other in the primary will give the democrats their platform against you in the general election!!! So instead of taring each other down, just tell the public what your assets are, what you are capable of, what you can do for the people. NEVER run a negative campaign.
