GOLDEN | Authorities say a police impersonator stopped a woman driving in the south Denver area but left after she questioned whether he was really an officer.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department said Friday the incident occurred Oct. 29.

The man pulled up behind the woman’s car in a vehicle with a red flashing light but no other police markings.

The woman told deputies she became suspicious when the man told her that traffic was too heavy where she stopped and directed her to another area.

She says after she challenged the man’s identity, he returned to his car and drove away.

She says the man wasn’t wearing a badge, police patches or gun belt.

  1. If you are in doubt that the cop pulling you over is real, use your cell and call 911. Let dispatch verify it for you.

  2. Hi Ashley,
You are a blessing to all this political and policing BS… Thank you so much!

What I don’t understand is why (they) sell this old police cars to the public and some cars still have the old lights on the sides (they may not work) but they are there….why? It is deceiving when you see these cars and a public civilian is driving it. This is how these guys get that thrill to take advantage of hurting someone or using this vehicle as a weapon. And anyone not sure…call 9-1-1 to make sure that unmarked car is really a cop or not. These cars should be crushed after the police are done with them but I assume the City still wants to make that last buck?
Ashley, I love your smart thinking and honest truth. We (me and my family) have been harassed, slandered, and so on by the Chief and his circle of love not to mention Dave Perry, bashing us and continuing to put out in the Aurora Sentinel talking cramp and foaming the mouth about me and my husband, who has won 2 of the 3 battles that the chief is punishing him for saving his life and the other officers life. THANK YOU — YOU ARE THE TRUTH .
