AURORA | It had been a few weeks since the Rangeview volleyball team had played a competitive match, which contributed to a slow start in Thursday night’s battle with visiting Gateway.

In a clash of rivals, the Olys won the first two sets before the Raiders knew was happening in the EMAC showdown.

But senior Rachel Virbickis, the only returning player from last year’s team, helped get Rangeview back on track and the Raiders came all the way back for a stunning 15-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19, 18-16 victory in front of their raucous home crowd.

Virbickis finished with 12 kills to help Rangeview improve to 10-3 overall and to its ninth straight victory and 6-0 in EMAC play. Senior Rachel Bates added 11 kills and freshman Tyler Speller nine and Chelsie Thompson racked up 34 assists for the Raiders.
