YOUR NEWS | Aurora, CO – October 2, 2013 – Will Redwine, in celebration of his 13th birthday announced today “Sock-N-Out Childhood Cancer” Sock Drive. His goal of collecting 5,280 socks for cancer patients kicked off with a birthday celebration Friday, September 13th at Steve’s Snappin Dogs and ends this Sunday. Sock-N-Out Childhood Cancer is asking donors to drop off socks to one of the three locations in Denver and Aurora. The three drop-off locations are:
Steve’s Snappin Dogs
3525 E. Colfax Ave
Denver, CO 80206
Highline Academy
2170 S. Dahlia Street
Denver, 80222
Rose of Sharon Beauty Salon
13923 E. Exposition Ave
Aurora, CO 80012.
Sock-N-Out Childhood Cancer is a sock drive to benefit children in cancer treatment. The idea started when it came to Will Redwine’s attention that his birth month is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Following his sister’s example (Alexandria Redwine, creator of an organization that helps kids ‘give back’ to society as they turn 13), he decided to develop his campaign and Sock-N-Out Childhood Cancer was created.
Will said, “I recently found out that hospitals socks given to patients are not warm or attractive and I know how nice it feels when your feet are warm and hospitals are so cold! I would like to provide comfort to children who already are having a tough time. It might be a little thing but I want to help and maybe people will donate really fun socks too!”
About 3RTN Mindful Behavior
Giving back is a ‘coming of age’ tradition for the Redwine family and their credo, “it’s better to give than to receive,” has inspired Alexandria Redwine to launch a mentoring program for children turning 13. 3RTN Mindful Behavior was created when Alexandria began her 13th birthday campaign by launching a canned food drive to benefit, Smoky Hill Vineyard Food Bank, Old Landmark Ministries and Food Bank of the Rockies in April of 2012. The overwhelming response to her campaign and the feeling of giving back was so profound that Alexandria made a commitment to help teens who want to serve others and give back to their community. Alexandria Redwine and 3RTN Mindful Behavior is developing a business model and in the process of applying for nonprofit status.
