AURORA | A man struck by a Jeep early Saturday morning on East Sixth Avenue has died, police said.

The man, Steven Williams, 22, was seriously injured and put on life support following the crash, but died around 10:15 a.m. Aug. 19.

The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. Aug. 17 on Sixth a few blocks east of Havana Street.

Aurora police Lt. Jeff Turner, who oversees the department’s traffic section, said investigators believe the man crossed the street without a cross walk in a dark area. The woman driving the Jeep likely won’t face charges, he said.

“We’re sure that he was the one that was at fault, and unfortunately it cost him his life,” Turner said.

Witnesses said the Jeep was travelling under the speed limit, Turner said.

Investigators believe the man may have been intoxicated.
