AURORA | Police are looking for a 28-year-old man suspected in a fatal stabbing last week at a north Aurora apartment complex.

Hector Funez-Canales is facing a first-degree murder charge for the June 25 stabbing death of Esteban Reyes-Villalobo, 53. Police said they found a beige Toyota SUV connected to the case, but are still searching for Funez-Canales.

The stabbing happened around 10:30 p.m. in an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Moline Street.

Police said they responded to the apartment on a report of a disturbance and found a man in the hallway who had been stabbed. The man, Reyes-Villalobo, was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office said Reyes-Villalobo died from severe internal injuries caused by a stab wound.

According to state records, Funez-Canales, a native of Honduras, has been arrested just once before in Colorado. That arrest came in November 2010 when Aurora police arrested him on charges that he drove without a license.
