AURORA | Police have a DUI checkpoint planned for Friday night on East Mississippi Avenue.

The checkpoint is one of more than 100 checkpoints planned around the state this summer aimed at cracking down on drunk driving.

Police said the checkpoint will start at 9 a.m. Friday and continue through 3 a.m. Saturday.

Drivers will be briefly contacted by police officers looking for signs of intoxication.

The checkpoint is paid for with a National Highway Transportation Safety Administration grant and is in partnership with the Heat is On campaign and administered by the Colorado Department of Transportation, police said.

  1. if the City is worried about leaks, have you ever been to a Ward 4 meeting? Ms Oops tells all.

  2. This isn’t about cracking down on drunk driving, it’s about the grant money they get for participating by having check points.

I suddenly understand why the Citizens Police Alumni Association and it’s president are held in such high esteem by this city.

They use the citizen volunteers to help out at these DUI check points and probably also get grant money for having a Citizens Police Academy too.
