Mayor Steve Hogan and four other Aurora City Council members will be in Washington, D.C. from May 14 to 16 to advocate for Aurora issues at their annual meeting with members of Congress.

Hogan and council members Marsha Berzins, Barb Cleland, Renie Peterson and Melissa Miller will be meeting with Colorado’s Congressional delegation and other federal officials like the deputy chief counsel for the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the deputy chief of staff for the Office of House Speaker John Boehner, R-OH.

City officials will advocate for federal support on issues like the spaceport designation for Front Range Airport, locating a United States Patent and Trademark Office in Colorado, and supporting the $150 million in the President’s budget for the Eagle P3 public transportation project.

The cost of the trip is about $2,000 per city official, but some are paying for it out-of-pocket, and others are getting the cost of the trip covered by Accelerate Colorado.
