DENVER | Marijuana blood-level driving limits could finally be coming to Colorado.

Colorado lawmakers have failed three times to agree to a driving blood limit standard for marijuana. The proposal comes before the Legislature for a fourth time Thursday, when the proposal Is heard in the House Judiciary Committee.

The proposal would set a marijuana equivalent to blood-alcohol limits. But pot activists who have successfully derailed earlier driving-high bills insist the fight isn’t over.

Drugged driving is already illegal. But the bill would set a standard of 5 nanograms per milliliter of blood for the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. This year’s version would give defendants the opportunity they were unimpaired though they exceeded the blood limit.

Washington state already has a 5 nanogram driving limit.

  1. This is so stupid and ridiculous and a WASTE of everything! I’ve been driving high since I started driving…SIXTEEN YEARS AGO! I have been in ONE, at-fault, accident in my entire life, and during that accident, I had not smoked pot ALL DAY (just left work). Give me a BREAK! People have been driving around stoned since the 1960s! Marijuana Prohibition is OVER!! Just deal with it people! Go catch the drunk drivers, meth-addicts, pedophiles, and rapists!

  2. “5 nanograms per milliliter of blood for the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana” which is THC! What about the hundreds of marijuana strains that are high CBD and have little to no THC!? So, in other words it would be illegal to drive with THC is your system, but it would be 100% legal to be high as a kite from CBD marijuana, driving around?? This is a joke! And what about the mmj users? This is the dumbest thing ever, no wonder it’s already failed three times! Go after crime for once!

  3. so how are people supposed to know if they are over the limit? the two beers in an hour thing works for me but what clever rule of thumb are thy gonna come up with? what if you can’t even tell if I’m high because i wont take off my sunglasses? They are perscription ya know
