AURORA | Tanner Gentry wasn’t among the 253 players taken over three days of the National Football League draft, but the former Grandview star took a step towards his pro dream Saturday.
Gentry, a talented wide receiver out of the University of Wyoming, reportedly signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Chicago Bears, shortly after the draft concluded in Philadelphia.
Terms were not disclosed, but Gentry was among five players to sign with the Bears.
As a senior, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Gentry led the Mountain West Conference with 1,326 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns, totals that ranked him No. 12 and No. 14, respectively, in the NCAA. He was an All-MWC second team selection and made the Biletnikoff Award Watch List for a second straight season.
For his career, Gentry caught 180 balls for 2,815 yards.
