Boys A-Town All-Star Game returns after strong debut
JAIZEC LOTTIE
School: Cherokee Trail High School
Year: Senior
Height: 6-foot-2
2016-17 averages: 20.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals per game

Season highlights: The Cherokee Trail boys basketball team came into the 2016-17 season hoping to match the success of the previous year, when the Cougars advanced to the Great 8 round of the Class 5A state playoffs. Coach Morgan Gregory’s team certainly posted some significant victories, but a spate of injuries hurt their ability to win games in stretches and ultimately led to a difficult position in the 5A playoffs, which ended with a second-round loss at Rampart. The Cougars played four games without senior guard Jaizec Lottie — who suffered an ankle injury in the first game back from winter break and went 1-3, finding it difficult to replace what he brought to the lineup. Because of the losses to graduation from the previous year, Lottie knew he needed to score more for Cherokee Trail to be successful and he did so, upping his average to 20.3 points per contest, which ranked only behind Rangeview’s Matthew Johnson (21.6 ppg) for top honors among Aurora players. Lottie also pulled down more than a full rebound more than a year ago, dished out 4.0 assists per game and made 2.1 steals per ballgame. The currently uncommitted All-Centennial League first team selection will play on Team East in the second A-Town All-Star Boys Game.
Lottie vs. Aurora teams: vs. Rangeview (26 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals; 23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists); vs. Regis Jesuit (12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists); vs. Eaglecrest (17 points, 4 rebounds; 18 oints, 6 rebounds, 8 assists); vs. Smoky Hill (32 points, 5 assists, 4 steals); vs. Grandview (13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists)
