AURORA | A look ahead at some of the key games, tournaments and happenings in Aurora prep sports from Sept. 22-28, 2016:

A pair of All-Aurora matchups open Week 4 of the prep football season Sept. 22 with Vista PEAK and Gateway squaring off while Rangeview takes on Overland. The Bison and Olys (each 1-2) play at 6:30 p.m. at APS Stadium, while the Raiders and Trailblazers face off at 7 p.m. at Stutler Bowl, where one team will win its first game of the year.

League play arrives in boys soccer on Sept. 22 with Centennial League and EMAC teams taking their first shots at one another. Smoky Hill and Grandview have a 5:30 p.m. date at Legacy Stadium for a key opener, while Cherokee Trail visits Cherry Creek at 4:30 p.m. at Village Green Park and Gateway welcomes Vista PEAK to EMAC play at 4:30 p.m. on the Bison’s home field.

Aurora volleyball teams begin conference play Sept. 22 with a slate that includes a big one in the EMAC standings with Rangeview playing host to Brighton at 7 p.m. in a battle of teams that finished tied atop the conference last season. Regis Jesuit welcomes Highlands Ranch at 6 p.m. in Continental League play.

The A-Town Game of the Week prep football game features Grandview playing host to Cherry Creek at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 as the two former Centennial League rivals get the chance to play in a game that has no impact on the conference standings. The showdown between the Wolves and Bruins —both 2-1 — will be live-streamed, presented by the Aurora Sentinel and StreamItSports. Live stream available, here. Regis Jesuit honors  military/first responders for its 7 p.m. home game against Highlands Ranch, while unbeaten Eaglecrest visits warming up Cherokee Trail at 7 p.m. Aurora Central hopes to get to 4-0 against Mountain Range at 7 p.m. at APS Stadium.

The Overland Invitational gymnastics meet runs Sept. 24 with a quality field on its way to compete. The meet is run in two sessions, from 10-11 a.m. and 2-3:30 p.m.

The Class 5A boys state golf tournament runs Sept. 26-27 as the top golfers in the state cap the season with two rounds of play on the Western Slope at Grand Junction’s Bookcliff Country Club. Play begins at 8:30 a.m. both days for Aurora’s contingent of 11 qualifiers, which includes a foursome from Regis Jesuit seeking a repeat as 5A state champions.
