Turning Aurora into its own city and county will be a priority for city officials during the next 18 months, Aurora City Council members said at an April 21 meeting.
Currently, the city straddles Arapahoe and Adams counties and a small portion of Douglas County.
Council members also identified a handful of other top issues at their spring workshop including: boosting Fitzsimons area development, creating a day care and youth recreation center along the Colfax corridor, finding funding for a new police and fire training facility and completing the Westerly Creek Corridor.
