AURORA | An Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputy was injured Thursday in Aurora when a carjacking suspect ran into his patrol car, police said.
Shots were fired after the crash, Aurora police said, but nobody was struck by gunfire and it wasn’t clear who fired the shots.
The deputy, who was not identified, was helping Aurora police chase a suspect who police say carjacked a vehicle in the 13700 block of East Rice Place, said Aurora police Officer Diana Cooley, a spokeswoman for the department.
The stolen vehicle crashed head-on into the deputy’s vehicle near El Dorado Place and Winston Street, which is near South Chambers Road and East Floyd Avenue.
The deputy’s condition has not been released, but Cooley said their injuries were minor.
Police said one suspect from the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and two were arrested.
