CENTENNIAL | Another season, yet another semifinal appearance for the Regis Jesuit ice hockey team.
The Raiders secured career coaching victory No. 200 for coach Dan Woodley on Friday against Cheyenne Mountain in the 2016 playoff opener and his 201st win came Saturday afternoon with an 8-0 blanking of sixth-seeded Steamboat Springs at Family Sports Center.
Regis Jesuit improved to 20-1 and qualified for the state ice hockey semifinals for the ninth consecutive season. The Raiders will face top-seeded Mountain Vista — a team it beat 4-3 on Feb. 19 — on Thursday at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. The Golden Eagles ousted defending champion Cherry Creek 4-3 in play at South Suburban Ice Arena.
Game times for the Regis Jesuit vs. Mountain Vista semifinal and the contest between Monarch and Ralston Valley on the other side of the bracket are to be determined.
Seniors Eamon Duffy and Jack Kilkenny scored two goals apiece, while Jack Jordan, Connor Kilkenny, Kyle Nelson and Spencer Sannes also tallied for Regis Jesuit, which averaged nine goals in its two playoff wins over the weekend.
The Raiders’ eight goals included 14 assists, with Nelson picking up three and Cade Alcock, Ian Aylmer and Andre Dugas two each.

Gartner had to make just four saves for his shutout.
