AURORA | A standoff that started Sunday night, Feb. 21, when someone inside a house fired a gun at sheriff’s deputies ended Monday morning when deputies found a man inside dead.

The name of the man has not been released and the investigation is ongoing, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Capt. Chris George said in a statement.
The incident at the home in the 20400 block of East Hampden Place started around 9 p.m. Sunday when deputies responded to the home near East Hampden Avenue and Liverpool Street to check the welfare of a man there.
When deputies arrived at the home, someone inside fired a shot toward the deputies. Deputies set up a perimeter and tried to reach the man inside but didn’t get a response.
Homes nearby were evacuated, and the sheriff’s office used reverse notification to warn neighbors to stay in their homes.
Deputies closed East Hampden Avenue between South Himalaya Street and South Liverpool Street for several hours during the standoff.
Around 7:45 a.m., the SWAT Team entered the home and found one man dead inside.
