AURORA | Two days after a press conference where Aurora theater shooting victims and families said money from charities was slow coming, the 7/20 Recovery Committee issued a statement today with instructions for victims and families to receive compensation and help.

The committee, composed of elected officials, city and state representatives and other officials, said in a note to media Thursday that families and victims should contact Colorado Organization for Victims Assistance for “community based victim resources” and the 18th Judicial District for compensation and case information.

Residents of the Paris Street apartments where accused shooter James Holmes lived also qualify for help through the organizations.

Over $5 million has poured in from donors for victims and families impacted by the shooting that killed 12 and wounded 58. According to the committee, $350,000 in donations were distributed among victims earlier this month and $100,000 was given to 10 local support organizations.
