It‘s that time of year where we sit back and give thanks for the blessings in our life. As parents, we are very thankful for school choice.

Our son, Jeffrey Chin, is now a high school freshman with Colorado Connections Academy, an online public school that has met his learning needs in ways that a regular brick-and-mortar school cannot. As a young pianist who aspires to seek professional piano performance training someday, Jeffrey is committed to at least 4 to 5 hours of piano practice daily.  Being a student at an online school such as Colorado Connections Academy has allowed Jeffrey to work at his own pace, in an environment that is conducive to his piano practice demands. Attending a cyber school has allowed him the flexibility he needs to juggle his time between academics and piano study. For example, he can take some extra time to complete projects in his less favorite subjects and also elect to move ahead in areas in which he excels. As parents and Learning Coaches, we work regularly with Jeffrey’s online teachers to help him be the best student he can be. We are in constant communication with his teachers and know they are never more than a phone call, email, or online class away.

We are also very thankful because learning isn’t confined to the borders of a school building or school district.  Jeffrey’s piano competitions and attendance at music festivals often take our family on travels away from our home. Virtual schooling has allowed our son to continue his education without skipping a beat…he can log into his online classes anytime and anywhere. He is getting a balanced, high quality education in a school environment that is the best fit for him.  We are extremely grateful for Connections Academy and the blessing it has been to our family.

Sincerely,

Dewey and Lana Chin
