AURORA | A teenage boy was shot and killed in Aurora yesterday, marking the third lethal shooting of a child in the city so far this year, according to Aurora police.

Police responded to the 4700 block of Memphis Street in southeast Aurora around 6 p.m. May 6 after reports of a shooting, according to information released by the Aurora Police Department. In a press release issued late Monday, police urged parents to monitor their children in the coming months as the school year ends and summer vacation begins.

“With the summer months approaching, we are pleading to the parents of our community to have the tough conversations with their children,” police said. “Know where your children are and who they are with.”
