Kim Robards, Aurora’s reigning matriarch of dance, is returning to the stage this weekend with “Elevate,” the spring work produced by Robards’ eponymous local company. Robards and her team of dancers will be taking a step away from their typical haunts on East Colfax Avenue for this particular show, instead taking the stage at the Lakewood Cultural Center. The production will feature a brand new Robards work, entitled “Threshing Floor,” which meshes physicality with spiritualism, according to a press release. The residing maven of movement will close the evening with “Silken Threads,” and the previously staged piece titled “Aurora,” which serves as a metaphor for the communal tragedy spawned by the Aurora theater shooting in 2012. The performance is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

Dry Dock Brewing Company’s wine and cheese making class 2 – 4 p.m. May 8, The Brew Hut, 15120 E. Hampden Ave. Tickets are $25. Registration is required at fare harbor.com/thebrewhut. For more information, visit the Dry Dock Facebook page.

In celebration of their newly remodeled retail digs, the folks at Dry Dock brewing company are inviting local foodies to learn, or at least brush up on, how to crank out a batch of homemade mozzarella and a quick vat of wine at The Brew Hut on East Hampden Avenue. It’s easier than it sounds. To celebrate Mothers Day, probably-bearded Dry Dock suds slangers will lead attendees through how to make a ball of mozz’ in as little as 30 minutes, as well as how to whip up six gallons of wine from prepared ingredient kits — don’t worry, there’s no waiting for raisins in the sun. Show mom that you sort of, kind of know how to make cool things from scratch at this tasty workshop. Oh, and Time for Dezzerts will be serving beer cupcakes at the brewery across the way before the event. So, there’s that, too.

With a slightly different group of board members and artistic directors, Theatre Esprit Asia — the Mountain West’s first theater company to specifically focus on Asian-American shows — is debuting its spring production May 7. Titled “Animals Out of Paper,” the show, which is directed by Sam Wood, follows a world-renowned origamist who takes a new student prodigy under her wing. Written by Rajiv Joseph, the quirky dramedy exposes several of life’s unexpected thorns, and suggests they be embraced rather than ignored. The Realish Housewives of Cherry Creek 7:30 p.m., May 6, 7 and 8, with additional performances at 2 p.m. May 7 and 8, Garner Galleria Theatre, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, 1101 13th St., Denver. Tickets start at $29. For more information, call the box office at 800-641-1222.

We’re betting that the producers of the latest show to storm onto the Garner Galleria Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts didn’t have to look far to find plenty of choice material. The nether regions of southeast Aurora, as well as Denver’s posh Cherry Creek pocket, offer plenty of intriguing, well, intrigue that is ripe for a rocking onstage parody. Billed as a “performance brimming with brawls, booze and Botox,” “The Realish Housewives of Cherry Creek,” follows a quintet of conniving yet enthralling housewives whose personalities are ubiquitous in the aforementioned metro area hives. The performance is not suitable for children, and, unfortunately, glasses of pinto are not included. Shucks.
