Muslim Americans have faced an incredible amount of scrutiny since the beginning of the 21st century. With the terror attacks of 9/11, many Americans harbored prejudice against their neighbors. The Black Actors Guild and Emancipation Theatre are joining together to bring the new play “Mosque,” by Jihad Milhem, to Aurora. The play tackles the issues of being a Muslim family in New York after the terror attacks on 9/11. Mohammad and his father, Abdul, run a local corner store with deep roots within the community, only to be faced with questions about the terror attacks — and the Mosque being built close to Ground Zero garners national attention and anger.
