BREW NEWS: Two22Brew benefit for Aurora shooting memorial; Dry Dock ready to celebrate

AURORA | A local brewery is hoping to help raise money next week for a permanent memorial for the 12 people killed and 70 hurt in the July 2012 Aurora theater shooting.

Two22Brew is hosting a silent auction Oct. 24 at the brewery, 4550 S. Reservoir Road, Centennial, with proceeds benefiting the 7/20 Memorial Foundation.

The foundation is trying to raise money to build a Reflection Memorial Garden at the Aurora Municipal Center Xeriscape Garden at Alameda Avenue and Chambers Road. Backers hope the space will provide a beautiful and serene spot for survivors, those who lost a loved one and other members of the community to reflect. They are hoping to add a sculpture and other pieces as part of the memorial garden.

The event next week at Two22 will include food trucks, beer, face painting and a photo booth. The silent auction runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.  And it seems like an ideal fit for a brewery that already donates $2.22 from every $10 of proceeds to Colorado charities.

To donate items for the auction, contact Cassandra at [email protected] All auction items must be received by Oct. 23. For more, visit or 7/20 Memorial Foundation on Facebook.

We will have more on this in this space next week, but it’s worth mentioning now that Dry Dock Brewing Co. is hosting a massive 10th Anniversary celebration next week.

Aurora’s first and biggest craft brewer turned 10 earlier this week and they are throwing a party Oct. 24 to celebrate their decade of success.

The party starts at 2 p.m. at North Dock near Interstate 70 and Tower Road and tickets are $35. For more, visit
