AURORA | Temperatures this weekend are expected to reach close to 90 degrees, but a couple Aurora breweries have you covered with some lime-flavored brews ideal for a hot day.
At Launch Pad Brewery, their Key Lime Pie Saison is set to be released Friday.
The brew is made with key lime juice, key lime leaves and key lime rinds, as well as fresh vanilla beans.
Owner and brewer David Levesque said he wanted a complex brew that took something from each of the lime’s parts.
David’s wife, Erin, said the brew was a huge hit at last week’s Rails and Ales festival in the San Luis Valley, after which Launch Pad was voted the top brewery there.
The award was in no small part a product of the Key Lime Saison, she said.
“That’s what everybody was drinking,” she said.
Mu Brewery is getting in on the key lime fun this weekend, too.
The brewery on East Colfax Avenue is unveiling their key lime Brett saison, which has spent five months aging in a Merlot barrel, with a party starting at noon on Saturday. The brew, dubbed “Alternate Perspective,” is limited to 228 bottles, so you might want to hustle over for it.
Looking ahead to next week, Copper Kettle Brewing Co. is bringing back their Freedom Kölsch on July 1, just in time for Fourth of July. The brew, which won a gold medal at the 2014 Colorado State Fair, is a light German pale ale that, like those key lime brews, is a perfect summer brew.
