AURORA | Aurora’s beer makers have plans for the Halloween weekend that go well beyond pumpkin beers — although, obviously, pumpkin brews are still part of the celebration.

12049575_1127781420568031_8551945681166728092_nAt Mu Brewery, owner Nathan Flatland said they are having a costume party Saturday night that includes $2 off pints, a dollar off small growler fills and other deals. There will also be hourly prizes for the best costumes.

The party starts at 6 p.m. and is set to go till the brewery closes at 11 p.m.

Among the fall brews on tap are Mu’s Pumpkin Peach Ale and their pumpkin brew.

As for Flatland, he said he will be dressing up as some sort of zombie.

“It looks like I got in a fight with a bulldozer,” he said of his costume while sipping a Sour Cherries Ale at the brewery Thursday afternoon.

Last year, when the brewery was just a few months old, the Halloween party wasn’t a particularly raucous affair.

But, Flatland said, now that the East Colfax Avenue brewery is marketing itself more, and has built up more of a customer base than they had in 2014, he’s hoping Saturday’s party will be different.

Plus, Flatland said, with experience Mu’s fleet of brews has steadily improved.

“We just have a lot more going for us this year,” he said.

Two22Brew is also getting in on the holiday fun with a “Boos and Brews” party Saturday. The party, which runs from 8 to 11 p.m., also includes a costume contest.

Copper Kettle Brewing Co. is hosting a party too, and their’s includes a Pumpkin Spice Latte cask served in baby pumpkins.

Also this weekend, Coda Brewing Co. is again serving their Punky Brett Saison, made with spelt and Pacifica hops, and Dogcatcher Hoppy Red Ale, made with orange blossom honey.
