Wolf Fire grows, Divide Fire contained

ELK SPRINGS | Firefighters are continuing to fight two lightning-sparked wildfires in Moffat County.

Fire officials said Sunday the Wolf Fire has grown to 6,100 acres and it’s 40 percent contained. The Divide Fire is now 100 percent contained at 408 acres.

The Wolf Fire is burning 5 miles south of Elk Springs. Steep terrain on the southern end of the blaze is proving difficult to contain.

Is Moffat County using chemicals to put out the fires or just smothering with dirt? Certainly soon there won’t be enough water for something — perhaps farmers or ranchers, fish, Water World, or fires.  Of course, Colorado puts oil & gas development – which completely destroys water – at the top of the list for usage, afterall, they pay the most.
