GRAND JUNCTION | A 16-year-old boy is dead after falling 100 feet in the Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction.
KCJT-TV (https://bit.ly/1k4ZLit) reports that the teen fell over the edge near the viewing area of Independence Monument, a prominent tower of rock that rises from floor of the red rock canyon. Three other people were with him.
The teen was in and of consciousness when rescuers reached him and died as they were trying to rescue him.
