Police searching for leads in fatal hit-and-run collision that killed 1 in Aurora early Saturday

AURORA | Aurora police are still looking for suspects in a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian dead early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the area near Smith Road and Sable Boulevard shortly after 12 a.m. May 11 on a report of a person with significant injuries lying in the road, according to Aurora police Sgt. Mike Douglass.

Investigators determined an unidentified vehicle had struck and killed an unidentified man in the 14700 block of Smith Road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Jad Lanigan said the man may have been hit twice, “by possibly two cars.”

Police have no leads on possible vehicles or drivers involved in the fatal incident.

“We know nothing,” Lanigan said. “We’ve got 0.0000 leads.”

The Adams County Coroner’s Office will likely identify the slain man in the coming days.

The incident early Saturday morning marks the 11th fatality on an Aurora roadway this year, Lanigan said. The man was the fourth pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in Aurora in 2019.

Anyone with any information related to this incident is encouraged to call Sgt. Mike Douglass at 303-739-6293.
