Police investigate slaying of Aurora woman


AURORA | Homicide detectives are investigating the apparent slaying of a woman found shot to death Saturday in an Aurora apartment.

According to a statement from Aurora police, officers responded to an apartment at 407 S. Memphis Way about 7:16 a.m. Saturday to conduct a welfare check.

At the apartment complex, which is close to East Alameda Avenue and South Chambers Road, police found a door ajar and a 29-year-old black woman dead inside. Police said the woman, whose name has not been released, had an apparent gunshot wound to her body.

No one else was in the home, police said.

Detectives form the Major Crime/Homicide unit responded and took over the investigation, police said.
