AURORA | The snow day declared by the city’s two school districts — Aurora Public Schools and Cherry Creek Schools — along with Regis Jesuit High School, wiped out in-person and most online classes and a good-sized slate of prep sports with it.

“The Cherry Creek School District is closed due to weather conditions, except for Cherry Creek Elevation and K-5 Online Programs, which will operate on a normal schedule,” school officials said in a statement.  “In-Person classes and school activities are cancelled. Before and after school daycare programs are closed.”

APS also cancelled online and in-person classes and programs.

Remote Learning is also cancelled for today,” officials said in a statement.  “We are cancelling remote learning because we did not provide advanced notice of the potential closure as noted under our new protocol.”

A boys-girls basketball doubleheader for Rangeview and Valor Christian is among the losses as the 10-0 Raiders would have faced the 8-3 Eagles in boys play, while the 9-1 Raiders were set to face the 11-0 Eagles in the girls game.

The slate also was to include the Centennial League boys wrestling finales for Grandview (at home vs. Arapahoe) and Eaglecrest (vs. visiting Mullen), while the Eaglecrest girls wrestling team also had a triangular scheduled.

Girls swimming virtual meets that were on the schedule were highlighted by Cherokee Trail going against Grandview in a matchup of teams both in Class 5A’s top 20 according to the latest rankings compiled by PrepSwimCo.com, along with Eaglecrest vs. Smoky Hill and Overland against Cherry Creek.
