Suspected drunken driver crash kills 1 in Aurora Saturday night


AURORA | Aurora police are investigating what led to a suspected drunken-driver crash that left one man dead near East Alameda Avenue and South Lima Street Saturday night.

First responders found a white Chrysler 300 that had struck a tree on the north side of Alameda at approximately 7:45 p.m. May 16, according to information released by Aurora police.

Bystanders took two occupants out of the vehicle before police arrived. A man who was a passenger in the car died a short time later at a local hospital. The driver was in critical condition in the days after the collision.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in the crash as 20-year-old Aurora resident Salvador Granados Jr.

Investigators believe alcohol and speed contributed to the crash.
