Recent Aurora shootings leave 1 teen wounded and 1 man dead

AURORA | Aurora police are investigating two, unrelated shootings that left one man dead and one boy wounded on back-to-back days this weekend.

Investigators learned that a 17-year-old boy was shot in the upper portion of his right leg shortly before 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning. The wounded boy was dropped off at a local hospital, a police spokesman confirmed. Officers later discerned that the teen was shot in front of the LIV City Center condos at 14301 E. Tennessee Ave. A handgun was found at the scene.

The following evening, police responded to a separate shooting in the parking lot of the InTown Suites at 2221 S. Havana St. The unidentified man who was shot was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead Tuesday morning, a spokesman for Aurora police confirmed. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify the slain man in the coming days.

Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with either shooting.
