Police seek the public’s help for leads into fatal shooting of man in north Aurora Saturday morning

AURORA | Police have released few details after an unidentified man was found mortally wounded from gunfire Saturday morning near East Colfax Avenue and Akron Street in north Aurora.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Akron Street at about 8 a.m. Saturday to investigate a shooting.

“When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries,” Aurora police spokesperson Officer Francisco Saucedo said in a statement. “Tragically, the male died from his injuries.”

Police said circumstances of the shooting and possible suspects are under investigation.

The Arapahoe County coroner office will release the identify of the man in the future, which is standard police protocol.

“We are seeking the public’s assistance,” Saucedo said.  “Anyone who may have observed anything suspicious, or has information about this case, is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-786.”

Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
